Happier Trails

The trail signs and maps are up!

Now you can see where you are…

… and how to get where you want to go.

Many thanks are due to those who helped put the signs and maps in place: Dan Abrams, whose Playa Bike was a center of operations and storage of materials and assembly. Dan provided his pickup truck to haul stuff, tools and also volunteered on the installation. In addition: Patrik Kihlborg who volunteered his time, car, and tools; Alexander Villalobos for his work with the map structures; Michael Strasmich from Nosara Retreat for storage of materials in Pelada; LHC construction for making Pedro available and for lending the electric drill, and architect Eugenia Gonzalez for coordinating; Harmony Hotel for providing Geovanny and Elvis, and Kuki and Adrián for coordinating; Malone Matson for the design of the map and signs and Joy Burch for putting up with Marco during the project!

Hike and help

Even after much hard work, trail development is still in its initial phase. NCA Vocal Marco Johanning, who spearheaded the trail upgrades, says, “I envision many more trails, data bases on all the sections, detailed maps, and information geared to a variety of users, a calendar of activities, and of course, constant improvements. I hope more people jump into this initiative and can support it, take care of it, grow it so we can make it better every year!”

Specifically, right now NCA needs help maintaining the trail by cutting back overhanging vines and branches, clearing the trail of leaves and debris, etc. To jump into this project, contact Marco (marco.johanning@gmail.com).

Some part of the trail need sweeping.

Support our neighbors while exploring other trails

On Saturday March 26, the Garza Development Association is sponsoring several races for the benefit of the Garza public school and Garza Sports Committee. Get to know some of the Garza trails, which could eventually connect with the Nosara trails. More important, support the Garza community and the Garza athletes who have supported Aventura Nosara and other races on Nosara trails.

The event costs 10,000 to 15,000 colones and will begin at Playa Garza at 3 p.m. with a children’s race and a “surprise route,” followed by a 5k fun run and 10 km and 18k competitive races. For more information, call Nesmer at 8833-3814.
