Nosara Trails Project Builds Bridges

Date

The Nosara trails are once again welcoming hikers, horses, and bicycles as the rainy season wanes. We hope you’ve had a chance to enjoy them.

NCA’s Nosara Trails Project wants to make these trails accessible year-round. In addition to cleaning and maintaining the trails and increasing signage, the project plans to build new bridges. One is already complete: the new 4-meter-long footbridge on the path between Café de París and Tica Massage. Thank you to Linda Tarlow and Alvin Rosenbaum for funding this project.

We’re hoping to install additional bridges on the same model. That requires footboards, square galvanized steel tubes, structural concrete, and cash to pay the workers. We’re particularly happy with the boards, made of recycled plastic, which will need little maintenance and will last a very long time. In addition, using these boards keeps a non-renewable resource out of landfills.

To meet this goal of year-round access, we need your help. We estimate that this project will cost $20,000. You can contribute in one of three ways:

  1. Donate any of the items on the list above. Contact Marco.Johanning@gmail.com
  2. Buy a Nosara Bench, and we’ll use the proceeds for the bridges.
  3. Give directly to NCA – please mark your contribution as “Nosara Bridges”.

Thank you!
