Mango Realty Creates Strategy to Support The NCA

Date

“If I had known about the NCA’s mission and projects beforehand, I would have joined a long time ago.”

This is a comment that those of us who are part of the NCA, constantly hear. One of our greatest challenges as an organization is being able to reach new residents of Nosara as well as those who are beginning to become frequent visitors to our community.

With the intention of continuing to support our mission of turning Nosara into a model community that values the well-being of all living beings, Mango Realty approached us to propose a strategy we want to share with everyone.  We believe that this could inspire many other companies to follow suit.

For each new client that Mango has –  whether through a sale of property or a new house to manage –  Mango pays for a one year membership in the NCA for them. They do this to encourage new people to get involved with the community and learn about the work of the NCA.

As an organization, this gesture, in addition to being a great vote of confidence from the members of the community, also means greater financial support. The economic devastation brought on by the pandemic also negatively impacted the Nosara Civic Association. For the most part, our finances come from donations from neighbors and businesses in the area – many of whom had to reduce their contributions.

“Mango Realty intends to create a holistic approach to real estate that’s inclusive of raising awareness and regard for this beautiful place that we live. An NCA membership is a great ‘welcome to the community’ gift,” said Angela Rasbeary, Mango Realty Manager.

For her part, Elizabeth Cundill, another Mango Realty partner, described this strategy as not only important to link new neighbors with the NCA, but because it is also necessary for real estate agencies to explain the context of current needs in the Nosara community.

“Most of our clients are newcomers and first-time property owners and most come from cities. When we first meet them, some clients aren’t even aware they’re buying property in a refuge. Most don’t understand jungle septic systems, or how cutting trees heightens flood risk and contributes to polluting the water we play and surf in, ”Cundill said.

The NCA decided to share this strategy with you because we are sure that this initiative can inspire other organizations to support our mission. What would Nosara be like without the 240 hectares that we protect for conservation? Would it be just as green and fresh as it is now? What would Nosara be like without the support that we offer to state institutions such as the Municipality of Nicoya and the Ostional Wildlife Refuge?

“The NCA  keeps Nosara beautiful and unique by protecting the parkland, ecosystems, beaches and Refuge which, in turn, protects everyone’s property investment. We want to support that sort of forward thinking,” added Cundill.

“We hope that it inspires new home and land owners to educate themselves about what it means to live in a wildlife refuge and ‘spark’ ideas about how they can plan, build, and have regard for the environment. We can’t stop change but we can make an effort to live more responsibly and with nature in mind, ” said Rasbeary.
