Nosara’s New Skatepark becomes a reality!

Date

Great news! Our community and visitors will have a professionally built Skate Park, as part of the project of the recently formed Skate Nosara Association. This ambitious idea starts as a dream to provide a safe, high quality, and FREE space for children and teens to practice their favorite sports.

Skate Nosara Association gathers skateboarders, surfers, BMXers, scooter riders, inline skaters, community leaders and parents.

The group is organized and focused on getting the fundraising for the project. Luckily, the initiative starts with the best of scenarios: One of the first things they accomplished was getting the land to build! It will be located just behind Nosara Escape and it’s a donation from a private resident investor.

While fundraising total goal is about $460,000, Skate Nosara looks forward to raising $200,000 through online donations, since there are already larger donors committed for amounts over $50,000.

Skate Nosara has achieved relevant improvements regarding community integration: Other local business owners have voiced their participation in donating local children’s transportation to the skatepark on regular basis to make it possible for more children to enjoy the space. And there are also participants committed to donate +100 skateboards and protective gear.

The initiative believes in unstructured play, accessibility, inclusivity and a “low barriers to participate” statement to allow individuals identified with skateboarding and related sports to feel valued, appreciated and more connected to their communities. This ultimately leads to healthier families who remain invested in Nosara.
