Calle Modelo: Why are the works affecting the water access in the area?

Date

As you may know, Calle Modelo is a public-private initiative funded by businesses and a monetary contribution from the Municipality.

Remembering that the work is being done on a municipal road is essential.

When it comes to a municipal street, it is mandatory to integrate the ASADA into the equation -as they are the official entity responsible for the aqueduct management in the area- to make sure the work team can take into consideration all the variables and information provided by the ASADA regarding pipelines location, depth of placement, regulations and other technical matters.

WHAT ARE WE FACING NOW?

Guiones has changed: Most of the pipelines in Guiones were placed a long time ago, and there is no track of which of them have been improved since, according to recent regulations.

Regulations being met: According to the regulations, pipelines must be at least 80cm underground, and there are cases in Guiones where pipelines are only 25cm underground.

Signals and accidents: Also, pipelines must have yellow plastic above them to prevent breaking issues. But the work team has no access to this information at the time

We (funders, contractors, NCA & Municipality) know the situation and the context.

“At the Municipality, we understand that due to the limited resources that all the ASADAS in the country suffer, the depth level of the pipes does not always comply with the regulations, so in some cases, the excavation must be done to know the depth of the pipelines”

-Road Management Technical Unit, Municipality of Nicoya.

Currently, we are working hand in hand with the ASADA, ensuring there is on-site presence of the ASADA team to react as soon as possible in case of any inconvenience, since for the work team, it is hard to know where the pipelines are going to be and the depth of it.

We want to thank the ASADA for their collaboration during this process, knowing it represents an increased workload and logistics to support the rest of the area.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OTHER SECTIONS OF THE ROAD?

From all the parties involved in this project, we would like to thank all the neighbors who had faced water shortages, street closures, and delays in the works performed at specific points such as Nosara Spanish Institute

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and deeply appreciate your understanding.

Car entrance by the Nosara Spanish Institute will be enabled by Tuesday June 20th. The design work would be completed by the end of the week.

*The NCA in this project is solely on charge to coordinate and integrate the interested parties.
