Our Annual Family Run/Walk, “The Magic Of Nosara,” on December 11th, was the cherry on top to close this year! Thanks to the collaboration and participation of the community, sponsoring businesses, volunteers, and NCA Board Members and staff, it was a complete success!
The event was a mix between beach and wildlife in a very Nosara style. The long route for the most experienced (4,4 MI) and the short route for families, groups of friends, and hiking lovers (1,5 MI) allowed participants to enjoy the beach and the NCA trails on a morning with the perfect weather to welcome the dry season!
Around 6:30 am, the last details were being set to receive more than 100 participants of different nationalities and ages from 7 months to 76 years old. Finally, the “Family” in the event name was a real thing!
After the official honk and following the Bomberos of Nosara vehicle, the participants of the long route left Olga’s Restaurant to run through the NCA trails across Playa Pelada and Guiones. A couple of minutes later, the hikers of the short route started their way as well.
Just 16 minutes later, 11-year-old Kip Watt (number 164) got to the finish line with a big smile after completing the short circuit, followed by other children just a few meters behind.
First place on the long route was taken by 25-year-old Henry Harris, with a time of less than 30 minutes for 4,4 MI.
Participants of all ages continued to arrive, encouraged by families and staff at the finish line, as they went to the main stage to refresh themselves with drinks and tropical fruits before the awards ceremony.
Finishing an amazing morning, our board members and Del Mar Academy volunteers gave away more than 22 prizes to winners in all categories. These prizes included diving and surf lessons, kayaking and horseback tours, gift cards, massages, and culinary experiences at the best restaurants in the area.

For the NCA, “The Magic Of Nosara” represents a space for community integration that allows residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy sports and the wonderful wildlife of our district in a healthy way.
